The city of McHenry received a $358,840 grant this week to connect the existing bike path to the new recreation center.
When completed, the path will connect the municipal and recreation centers, Knox Park, the Peter J. Merkel Aquatic Center and the Department of Parks and Recreation's maintenance facility and water plant.
The new recreation center is expected to open in the spring.
