The Village of Lake in the Hills is actively changing village policies and ordinances to attract new businesses.

“The economic-development mission of the village is to assist businesses in locating their

operation in the village, grow an existing company locally or start a new business enterprise in Lake in the Hills,” Village Administrator Gerald Sagona said. “We are positioning ourselves to assist companies interested in our village to

guide them through the permitting, licensing and for economic incentives that may be available. To aid the continued commercial growth in our village, we have lowered a critical development fee."

One successful example is the new Woods Creek Tavern, which took advantage of the village's new incentive policies to secure a 50 percent rebate on its sales taxes over the next four years. The tavern is expected to spend the savings on improving the exterior of its building.

In August, the village also approved a 19 percent decrease in water hookup fees for residents and businesses.

“At Lake in the Hills, we believe the village should be a partner when it comes to business development and retention," Director of Community Development Dan Olson said. "Lake in the Hills is poised to thrive."
