Cary warns residents to be wary of energy-company solicitors
The Village of Cary is warning residents not to provide any personal or billing information, especially account numbers, to any energy-company solicitors, which may result in an unwanted change in service providers or other changes in service.
In 2014, Cary signed a three-year agreement with Constellation Energy for electric services in the village, which overlapped with some customers' electric service provided through ComEd. Village officials issued the warning to make it clear that any energy solicitors seeking billing information were not part of that program and could potentially be taking advantage of any confusion over the source of residents' electric services.
The village encourages residents approached by a misleading solicitor to file a complaint with the Illinois Commerce Commission online at www.icc.illinois.gov, by phone at 1-800-524-0795 or by mail at:
