The Village of Lake in the Hills recently welcomed two new businesses.

Caterina Flower Insurance Agency, located at 61 Polaris Drive, Suite 4, provides a variety of insurance products and services, and D.S. Gifts N More is a mail-order gift seller.

“It is a pleasure to welcome these new businesses to the Village of Lake in the Hills,” Village Administrator Gerald Sagona said. “I highly encourage our residents to support our local economy whenever possible by shopping and doing business with our growing community of storefront and home-based village merchants.”

Lake in the Hills has been explicit about its interest in encouraging local businesses. In describing its business climate, the city cites its Comprehensive Plan, whose goals for business are “to maintain the quality of existing commercial development and expand the village’s tax base by creating new areas for retail, restaurants and service uses, enhancing the identity of Lake in the Hills as a destination shopping area for adjacent communities."

In addition to general promotion, the village also has created a “Shop Lake in the Hills” program that allows local businesses to offer electronic coupons directly to residents and pairs with a “Shop Local” campaign aimed at educating residents on the benefits of spending their dollars in town.
