Village of Lakewood Village Board meeting Nov. 24 to discuss emergency services, financial statements

Government

A Village of Lakewood Village Board meeting will held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24.

The public is invited to attend the meeting held at the Redtail Golf Club located at 7900 Redtail Drive in Village of Lakewood

to make comments concerning anything on the agenda.

Financial statements will be unveiled at the meeting for Lakewood Village, RedTail Golf Club and Lake Patrol.

An ordinance that would authorize an agreement for emergency services, including fire protection and emergency medical services, between the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and the Village of Lakewood will be voted upon.

The Village Board will also hear a motion to approve an amendment to the agreement for sewage treatment and roadway maintenance and repair.

One of the larger items on the agenda is the spillway that is in Special Service Area (SSA) number eight. The board has prepared a resolution that says that no money from SSA number eight will be used for the Lake of Turnberry dam or spillway.

Currently, lake one is connected to lake two at the southeast corner of lake one, which means that if lake one overflowed it would spill over into lake two. The property owner is seeking to gain an easement for any maintenance. The easement will be used to make sure the Village has access to the lakes.

The dam is located near the southwest corner of lake two, along the RedTail Golf Course’s property. If lake one overflows it goes into lake two. If lake two overflows it drains down the dam, through the alleyway onto Village of Lakewood’s property. The extra water is not expected to have an impact on the golf course’s property, which is an unused portion. It also won’t impact the wetlands that currently exist.

In 2010, Baxter & Woodman inspected the dam, with their recommended repairs being made that should extend the life of the dam to 50 years.
