Richmond trustees back tax levy increase recommendation

The Richmond Village Board approved a recommendation for a 2.09 percent increase in the 2015 tax levy at its Nov. 5 meeting. 

The board also approved a $16,796.74 payment for the salt barn cover, purchase of public address equipment, three proposals for street patching and the budget amendment in the FY 2015-2016 budget.

The board tabled an item related to liability and worker's compensation premiums and an ordinance revising the signs ordinance.

The board discussed buying a tornado siren, non-compliant buildings, stormwater violations, water tower cleaning and painting and the sidewalk project on west Route 12.

The board requested that the replacement of the Main Street sidewalk agreement with HR Green and proposals for a patch of the sidewalk be placed on the agenda for the next board meeting.

Under public comments, Praireland Disposal owner Steve Schweinberg discussed leaf removal and free snow removal in the downtown area.
