McHenry aldermen approve liquor license for Lucky Louise's

Meeting 02

The McHenry City Council approved a liquor license for Lucky Louise’s, a family-style deli and video cafe in the Fountain Shoppes retail area, at the council's Nov. 2 meeting.

An application was submitted by Lucky Louise's President Pamela Swift for a Class A1 license, which would allow the cafe to sell wine and beer at tables, as well as sell packages of beer.

Lucky Louise’s is a deli cafe, which also has video gaming and serves wine. They will offer carry-out and dine-in food. The restaurant met all the guidelines to obtain a license, and the fees have been paid. Alderman Geri Condon commented on the layout plans for the cafe, which had originally mapped out the video games in the front of the establishment. Condon believed the video game machines would sit best in the back, and Swift said she is open to change, as the floor plans aren’t set in stone.

The council approved the liquor license with the condition that all employees must get Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training certification from the state of Illinois.
