Woodstock panel to discuss adopting latest international building codes
The Woodstock Building Board of Construction Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday to discuss the adoption of international building codes for the city.
The city’s website lists its current city codes, with the most recent international codes associated with the building codes having been implemented in 2006. The city has also adopted the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code.
The international codes are developed by the International Code Council (ICC). On the ICC website it states that the building codes account for the use of new materials and building design and are compatible with other ICC codes such as those associated with fire and energy conservation.
The ICC states that all codes developed are to serve public health, welfare and safety for citizens internationally. The website also indicates that codes are modified through change proposals from industry representatives, enforcement officials and building designers.
