Port Barrington trustees heard details of a meeting on stormwater management.

The Port Barrington Village Board heard a presentation of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) meeting that two village representatives attended and discussed a board vacancy at its regular meeting Dec. 16.

Village President Shannon Yeaton and Donna Erfort presented details of the NPDES session that they said focused on stormwater management.

During this meeting, additional methods to eliminate cattail plants during the winter season were discussed. It was proposed using a controlled burn as an alternative to using chemicals to kill the plants. It was decided that a report would be drafted and experts would provide insight into the best methods for eliminating cattail.

Yeaton also told the Village Board that there still was a vacancy for trustee to be in charge of health and safety matters.
