A neighborhood traffic enforcement program was discussed at a recent Fox River Grove, Illinois Village Board of Trustees meeting.
The board was presented information of speeding complaints that had been reported in certain areas of the village and the recommendation was made to purchase certain equipment.
These instruments would better track when and where speeding problems occur through data collection that includes information of vehicle speeds, dates and time information. This would allow police officers to be informed and to prepare for speeders in any given area.
These efforts would be combined with increased education and other measures to ensure drivers are aware of the risks of speeding and deter them from doing so.
A majority of the trustee board was in favor of purchasing this equipment. Only Trustee Steve Knar voted in opposition to the purchases.
The board was also informed that the Federal Transportation Committee has passed a bill that would provide the state with funding, but it was noted that the state may not be able to access the funding due to complications relating to its financial situation.
This meeting was then adjourned.
