The McHenry City Council met as a committee of the whole recently to discuss updates to the city's Comprehensive Strategic Plan.
The strategic plan aims to offer development strategy for a period of three to five years in order to improve city services. Within the city’s current strategic plan, published in August 2014, are categories consisting of principles of governance, acknowledgement of limitations, and strengths of the government and ethical guidelines.
This plan also incorporates the challenges and opportunities that exist in the socio-economic environment that is outside of the public sector.
The comprehensive plan also includes the city’s mission statement, which the document indicates is to be recited at City Council meetings and placed in highly visible areas of government buildings and publications.
The plan is typically reviewed on an annual basis and may be updated as circumstances in government, the city, state or country change.
