The Fox River Grove Planning and Economic Development Commission discussed redevelopment of the downtown area according to recently released minutes of its Nov. 17 meeting.

According to the meeting minutes, demolition of properties in the area is expected to begin between March and May. At the time of the meeting, a development company was in the process of acquiring properties in the area. The minutes also indicate that there was one commercial owner that needed to sign a contract. Commission members said that because the original land contracts lapsed, they need to be reinstated in order to close them out. The meeting notes state that there were 12 or 13 pending contracts at the meeting time.

For redevelopment purposes, the downtown area was split into three sections. An implementation plan indicates that the planned sections consist of a block for Village Hall, a block for the train station and library with Route 14 splitting these two sections and a third block for the Fox River Marina.

The commission notes that the plan was ready to be finalized but was halted due to the winter season.
