The Johnsburg Special Zoning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday to discuss an amendment to the village zoning ordinance relating to shooting ranges.
The amendment would reclassify shooting ranges as conditional uses for B-4, I-1 and I-2 zoning classifications rather than their current status as permitted uses.
The zoning ordinance states that a conditional use requires certain steps in order to be approved by the board. These include the application for the proposed business operation and a public hearing tol allow the zoning board to determine if a recommendation for passage is appropriate with information given.
The zoning ordinance indicates the B-4 classification is for general businesses. I-1 and I-2 signify industrial districts that cover light and heavy classifications. The light industrial classification includes warehousing, administrative services and research operations; I-2 facilitates manufacturing and fabrications activities within industrial processes.
