The Algonquin Liquor Commission voted during a special session Feb. 23 to recommend a liquor license be issued to allow Scorched Earth Brewing Co. to serve alcohol next to its premises during its Scorched Earth Day event.

The April 23 event being hosted by Scorched Earth Brewing Co.

The meeting minutes indicate that the company has been compliant with regard to village requirements and has completed necessary documents and has paid the associated fees for its Scorched Earth Day, which would take place from 2 - 10 p.m. April 23 and would require the area where liquor could be served to be extended to the parking lot of the establishment.

The meeting minutes also indicate that the commission members did not find any problems with the requested event and recommended that the event be approved by the Village Board.

There was also a discussion to issue a Class A-1 license to a Famous Dave’s location. The meeting minutes indicate that the restaurant took over operation of the location from another establishment as of March 1. The minutes also indicate that with this license and the cancellation of the previous license, the maximum number of A-1 liquor licenses allowed in the village will have been reached. The Municipal Code allows 30 licenses in this class to exist at any period of time. The commission found no reason to not issue the license and recommended its approval by the Village Board.
