The Woodstock Economic Development Commission discussed plans associated with the city’s economic development plan at its March 8 meeting.

According to the agenda, this included discussions of planned business forums, the Incentives Policy Manual for the Woodstock, as well as plans for specific areas and corridors.

The economic development commission is tasked with determining measures and programs that will facilitate the business climate within the city. According to the department’s website, this includes the retention of businesses that are currently in operation and bringing new additional businesses into the city.

The commission works with city and county groups, including the McHenry County Economic Development Commission, the McHenry County Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The commission also acts as a liaison between members of the business community and the City Manager’s Office and assists in matters relating to relocation, site selection, expansions and other business support activity.

In addition, the agenda states that the commission also discussed project activity and business contracts reports for the month -- and reviewed an application for a revolving loan from the Thoughtfulness Shop.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place on April 12 in the City Council Chambers, Woodstock City Hall.
