Skillicorn in tight race for House District 66 GOP candidacy

With votes from 13 precincts still to tally in McHenry County, Allen Skillicorn led the field of four Republican challengers as of Wednesday night.

Skillicorn won the Kane County vote with 1,397 in comparison to his nearest challenger Dan Wilbrandt’s 1,198 votes. While Carolyn Schofield only garnered 682 votes in Kane she rebounded in McHenry County, leading with 3,348 votes with 33 out of 46 precincts reporting. Skillicorn trailed in McHenry County by a few hundred votes.

For McHenry County, Donald Trump led the Republican Presidential primary with 13,629 votes. On the Democratic Party side Bernie Sanders earned 12,782 votes.

Mark Kirk earned approximately 64 percent of the vote in the Republican Senate primary in McHenry County, beating James Marter’s 36 percent. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth soundly defeated challengers Andrea Zopp and Napoleon Harris.
