The Crystal Lake Sustainability Committee is getting ready for its annual summer cycling event.

The Sustainability Committee of Crystal Lake met Wednesday, March 16 to discuss a cycling event that will be held over the summer.

The Bike With Your Neighbor event is scheduled to take place on June 12. According to the McHenry County Bicycle Advocates website, this event will begin at noon and run until 4 p.m., starting at Main Beach. An Eventful.com page from the 2015 Bike With Your Neighbor Event states that the City of Crystal Lake hosts this event on an annual basis to encourage cycling around the city.

This meeting also discussed matters relating to the Greenest Region Impact. In addition, the city engineer spoke with members of the committee and others in attendance.

The Crystal Lake Sustainability Committee was established on Nov. 17, 2015, as a successor to the Ad Hoc Clean Air Counts Committee. The city’s website states that the clean air committee was closed following the closure of the larger Clean Air Counts Campaign that was established by the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus. This committee is focused on broader advocation of environmentally conscious and sustainable practices.

The agenda states that the committee's next meeting will occur on April 13.
