The village of Lake in the Hills announced this week that it has been selected to be featured on the Fund Your Park Page on the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) website.

The website's page acts as a fundraising platform that utilizes crowdfunding, a way to raise funds with many small amount donations. This platform is specifically to support projects relating to parks and recreation.

Currently the village’s Parks and Recreation Department is raising money to build a Children’s Garden at the Lake in the Hills and Algonquin Interfaith Food Pantry. The garden would act as an educational facility and would provide produce for the pantry. Educational activities would be focused on how to grow food and healthy eating choices. The pantry provides food for needy families in the area.

Donations to the Children's Garden may be made in person at Village Hall during normal hours, and beginning March 29, the project will have a funding page on the NRPA website that will be up until April 28. Those who donate at Village Hall will be allowed to sign the garden wall.

The village said the funding goal is currently $5,000.
