McHenry County holds HOME partnership funding round hearings

The McHenry County Community Development and Housing Grant Commission held HOME Investment Partnerships funding round hearings at its meeting Wednesday.

According to the meeting agenda, Home of the Sparrow, Habitat for Humanity, Full Circle Communities and the Housing Authority presented information regarding their respective projects. 

The HOME program is a federal grant program that allows state and local governments to be able to establish households for low-income families. The county website states that approximately $2 billion is allocated through the program for municipalities nationally. The website also states that the program allows flexibility for projects funded by this program that facilitates the needs of the municipality with project funding to disburse. This grant is offered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

This meeting also finalized funding allocations for the Community Development Block Grant program and there was also a overview of the Community Development Division and other staff recommendations.

The agenda also states that there were also discussions on funding recommendations and the monitoring schedules in relation to grants.
