The McHenry City Council discussed updating the city's comprehensive strategic plan Monday.
The McHenry City Council held a committee-of-the-whole meeting Monday to discuss updating the city's comprehensive strategic plan.
Members of the audience were given the opportunity to offer comments and to ask questions regarding the strategic plan.
The current strategic plan offers guidelines in areas relating to ethics, principles and challenges and opportunities facing the city. Under challenges facing the city, the plan lists vacancies and underutilization of retail space in the city, the use of technology to make city operations more efficient and prioritizing and limiting major projects taken on by the city.
The issue of retail space is also associated with ensuring that there is stability for businesses, and the plan states that goals in this area should include encouraging retail establishments, enacting measures that support business growth and monitoring ordinances and their impacts on the city’s business climate.
