Following changes to the state's recycling code, Huntley recently altered its rules the collection of electronics for recycling.

The village listed several common electronic items that are now banned from landfills. Items that must be recycled include computers, printers, scanners, TVs, cable receivers, computer mice, digital music players, videocassette recorders, small servers, video game consoles, fax machines, monitors, keyboards and digital converter boxes.

Several other items are not banned from the landfill and can be st out with trash. Village officials described these items as anything with a cord that isn't on the banned list. These items include DVDs, phones, cellphones, microphones, cameras, air conditioners, power tools, microwaves, video game controllers, vacuum cleaners and copy machines.

Residents looking to dispose of large appliances should make arrangements with their local waste hauler and expect to pay an extra fee.
