Island Lake ranked 340th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The Village of Island Lake had the 340th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 104 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Island Lake was $30.63 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the McHenry Times, Island Lake generated $247,451 in net sales from its six lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $160,905.50 in January 2015.

The Village of Island Lake is in Lake County, and has a population of 8,080, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Wauconda, Holiday Hills and Port Barrington.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $39,405.44.

Island Lake's top lottery retailer is Island Foods Inc located at 223 E State Rd, Island Lake, IL 60042.

Island Foods Inc generated 28 percent of Island Lake's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 1 percent of Lake County's sales that month, which was $14,777,040.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Lake County in 2015 were Wadsworth, Hainesville, Lake Villa, Antioch and Fox Lake.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
