Richmond ranked 12th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The Village of Richmond had the 12th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- up 3 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Richmond was $71.67 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the McHenry Times, Richmond generated $136,181 in net sales from its nine lottery retailers in April 2016, compared to $139,765 in April 2015.

The Village of Richmond is in McHenry County, and has a population of 1,900, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $20,742.75.

Richmond's top lottery retailer is Int Hse of Wine & Cheese located at 11302 US-12, Richmond, IL 60071.

Int Hse of Wine & Cheese generated 32 percent of Richmond's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of McHenry County's sales that month, which was $2,821,015.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in McHenry County in 2015 were Richmond, Wonder Lake, Harvard, Marengo and Woodstock.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
