Rep. Allen Skillicorn (R-East Dundee) is reaching out to residents affected by flooding along the Fox and Des Plaines rivers, urging them to call his office if they need help, according to a press release.

“I want to encourage any residents impacted by these historic flood waters to reach out to me if I can be of assistance in any way,” Skillicorn said in the statement. “Things can be replaced, but the most important thing is that people remain smart and stay safe.”

The flooding has affected communities in Cook, Kane, Kendall, Lake and McHenry counties, prompting Gov. Bruce Rauner to issue a disaster proclamation, allowing for immediate and long-term assistance for those affected. Skillicorn encouraged residents to call his Springfield office at (217) 782-0432 for assistance.

“Thank you to all the volunteers and first responders keeping us safe,” Skillicorn said in the release. “It has been inspiring to see the work being done by people coming together in this community and in surrounding counties. I want people to know that I’m here as a community resource during this unprecedented time. Please contact me if you need any assistance in receiving state aid or navigating state agencies.”
