Veter

Woodstock Chamber of Commerce & Industry issued the following announcement on Nov. 1.

TLS Veterans has been selected by The Home Depot Foundation as a District Project recipient. In honor of Veterans Day, The Home Depot Foundation has awarded TLS Veterans a $24,000 Grant which will be used to purchase materials to renovate bathrooms and kitchenettes in each of the Transitional Living Shelter rooms at their New Horizons facility in Hebron, IL. The one-day renovation project will take place on November 9 and will involve volunteers from 10 Home Depot stores including Machesney Park, Rockford, Fox Lake, McHenry, Lake Zurich, Palatine, Schaumburg, Carpentersville, Algonquin, and Crystal Lake. Over 125 volunteers will be on hand for this one-day project.

Breakfast and lunch for the volunteers is being donated by Country Donuts and Chik-Fil-A, both located in Crystal Lake, IL. Additional packing and storage materials are being provided courtesy of Dreiske Moving & Storage, McHenry, IL.

“Since 2001, New Horizons has been a safe harbor for military veterans needing a chance to rebuild their lives. Maintaining a 20-bed facility is an ongoing challenge and we have appreciated the generous support of Home Depot throughout these years of operation. It is heartwarming to see the community coming together on a project that benefits so many veterans, another way of saying “Thank you for your service.” stated Laura Franz, Executive Director, TLS Veterans.
