As parts of Illinois head into Phase 3 of reopening, Cary Park District will be reopening certain facilities and amenities.

Patch reported the park district plans to reopen playgrounds, the splash pad, park amenities and facilities that are allotted through the Restore Illinois Plan and are within the guidelines of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

The park district announced it would reopen the Community Center lobby, but that the fitness center, program rooms and locker rooms would still remain closed. The lobby is open for visitors who need to register for programs in person, conduct business with the park district, and purchase or renew dog park memberships.

Those who visit the Community Center must wear masks or face coverings and practice social distancing. The park district is also reviewing the reopening guidelines pertaining to summer programs and camps and noted that program participant maximums might be reduced due to social distancing guidelines. The district is planning on using a waitlist if they are able to accommodate more participants than expected and urged those interested in certain programs to add their names to waitlists.

The park district also urged individuals to follow the district on Facebook or subscribe to its e-newsletters for up-to-date information regarding several virtual recreation programs currently being offered. It noted that residents could also visit the Virtual Community Center to see new offerings that are added each week.

The park district also announced that the Community Center pool was still closed, but that Hoffman Park Dog Park was open, as well as the Skate Park at Lions Park, Foxford Hills Golf Club and other parks, trails and open spaces.
