City of Woodstock Cultural and Social Awareness Commission met May 10.

Here is the agenda provided by the commission:

3. Approval of Minutes – Minutes from April 12th meeting, Minutes NOT completed for April 26th yet

4. Discussion Items

a. Welcome new Commissioner – Curtis Price, appointed May 4, 2021

b. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Project is now moving forward as Celebration Sundays - 2pm-4pm on 2nd Sunday of the month at Stage Left Café as follows: July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14, December 12, January 9, February 13 and March 13

1) Funds and sponsors - review & discussion of sponsorship flyer provided by Commissioner Squires

2) Marketing - review & discussion of DEI program flyer provided by Commissioner Squires

c. Update on activities from the meeting coordinator:

1) Cultural diversity (Jose Rivera)

2) Racial diversity (John Kendall) - Standing Up Against Racism and/or BLM

3) Religious diversity (Jaci Krandel) – InterFaith Ministries, Blue Lotus Temple and Jewish community

4) Gender diversity / LGBTQ (Crystal Squires) – PRIDE

5) Age Diversity / Age Friendly Community (Juanita Vega) - Andrew Celentano and/or Terry Willcockson

6) Homelessness/Food/Security (Commissioner tbd) – Pioneer Center, Compassion for Campers and Woodstock Public Library Food Pantry

7) Working toward DEI in the environmental world (Commissioner tbd) -Cynthia Kanner – EDMC

e. Future Agenda Items: Engaging with Cultural groups at schools and churches in town, DEI Accountability and Social worker for the police force
