City of Harvard Transportation Committee met Jan. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairperson Charles Gorman called the meeting to order at 6:34 PM. Committee members present: Chairperson Charles Gorman, Alderwoman Lisa Haderlein, Alderman John Lavallee, and Alderman Matt Perkins. Also present were Mayor Mike Kelly, Alderman Jay Schulz, City Administrator Lou Leone, Finance Director Deb Bejot, Public Works Director Jim Kruckenberg, and Code Enforcement Officer Anne Nutley.

Public Comment: None.

Summary of Current Projects:

A) 2023 MFT Sidewalk Program: Chairman Gorman discussed the current status of the 2023 Sidewalk Program. Discussion on the next steps of the program and possible alternatives. City Administrator Lou Leone discussed that the next step in the project is to post the project for bidding. Leone was directed to contact the engineer to begin the bid process.

B) 2023 MFT Road Repair Program: Chairman Gorman discussed the 2023 Road Repair proposed project. Discussion continued on amount of road to complete and the next steps to prepare for estimates from the City Engineer. Chairman Gorman discussed the benefits of the PAVERS software when determining future road projects. Leone was directed to begin the McKinley project with alternatives.

C) Discussion of the PAVERS study: Chairman Gorman discussed the purpose and benefits of the PAVERS Software. Several committee members discussed the parameters of the PAVERS study as compared with current method of determining road projects.

Starline Crosswalk: Starline has requested, via Alderwoman Haderlein, permission to add zebra crosswalk markings on Front Street between their entrance and their parking lot across the street. As long as Starline agrees to perform and pay for the project, there is no objection to Starline’s request. Alderwoman Haderlein will inform Starling that the City has no objection, and they may proceed.

New Business: None.

Adjournment: A motion to adjourn was made by Alderwoman Haderlein, seconded by Alderman Lavallee. All ayes, motion passed.

Meeting adjourned at 7:50 PM.
