Village of Fox River Grove Parks Commission met June 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER 

Chairperson Barnett called the meeting of the Parks Commission to order at 6:33 p.m. 

ROLL CALL 

Present: Chairperson Seana Barnett, Members Kelly Nemec, James Brouder, 

Other attendees: Operations Manager John Reese, (Acting) Secretary Kristin Enstrom, Trustee Kirsten Wall 

RESIDENT COMMENTS 

None. 

APPROVAL OF THE OCTOBER 5, 2022 MINUTES 

A MOTION was made by Chairperson Barnett to approve the May 3rd, 2023 meeting minutes. Motion passed unanimously. 

Parks 

PUBLIC WORKS MONTHLY REPORT 

Operations Manager Reese presented the Public Works Monthly Report for April 2023. 

April highlights include: 

Sink hole on Bristol Ln was filled. 

➤ PW prepped for Parks clean-up day - still getting a lot of graffiti at the parks. 

➤ Playground mulch was delivered to all parks. 

➤ Community service workers picked up trash around town. 

John also said that outlet covers have been broken off 3 times at Lions Park. There is camera  footage of the vandals and Public Works is attempting to identify the kids who are doing it. 

PARKS FUNDRAISER SATURDAY JUNE 17, 2023 LIONS PARK 

The event will be held Friday June 23 at Picnic Grove Park. 

➤ Seana and Kirsten gathered the banners and signs to be raffled off at the event 

➤ Signs are set-up 

➤ Basset certification is complete 

➤ Seana and Kirsten are going to pick up alcohol from Binny's and will explore having a "signature  drink" for the event 

➤ John ordered tents and port-a-potties which will be set up Friday morning. PW will also put-up lights including 2 light towers. 

➤ The Fire Department will bring tables and chairs 

➤ Kelly went over all of the donations and baskets for the event 

Sign-up genius will be created for scheduling volunteers 

➤ Park parking to be closed at noon, will re-open at 5:00 

CLEAR CHANNEL OUTDOOR SIGN 

There will be no more banners on RT 14 

New digital sign on RT 14 and by Metra station will advertise Village events only. 

OTHER BUSINESS 

Kelly brought up the discussion that was held at the Village Board meeting the night before about some of the issues that happened at Picnic Grove Park over Memorial Day weekend and 

the different options that are being explored to help prevent problems in the future.
