State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry) has announced the launch of his fourth annual “Valentines for Seniors” card drive in Illinois. The initiative aims to bring joy and show appreciation to seniors in assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities across the 32nd Senate District.

Senator Wilcox is encouraging students from public and private schools, church groups, scouting organizations, and other community groups to participate in creating homemade cards. These cards, along with poems and well-wishes, will be collected at Senator Wilcox's Woodstock office until February 7. Individuals can drop off their cards in person or mail them to the office.

Speaking about the project, Senator Wilcox expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response received in previous years, stating, "Over the last three years, the response to this project has been phenomenal. Last year my office collected and distributed more than 4,000 cards. The seniors were all smiles as my staff and I delivered large bags of cards. My goal this year is to collect even more cards."

By engaging the community and spreading the word, Senator Wilcox hopes to surpass the success of previous years. He emphasized the impact these cards can have on seniors, saying, "Last year we were able to bring smiles to seniors at dozens of different assisted living centers and nursing homes. My hope is that we get an even greater response this year. Let's all do our part to bring some joy to seniors!"

It is worth noting that in 2023, Senate Republicans collected and delivered over 42,000 valentines through the statewide “Valentines for Seniors” program. This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the community to support and uplift the elderly population.

The “Valentines for Seniors” card drive not only spreads love and happiness but also serves as a reminder to seniors that they are valued members of the community. Senator Craig Wilcox's efforts, along with the participation of various community groups, will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the lives of seniors in the 32nd Senate District.
