Nine students from Carthage College took part in a Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge in Southwest Florida during December. Among the participants was Madelyn Bochat, who is from Cary, Illinois.

The service experience focused on safe and affordable housing as well as community engagement. Over four days, the students worked with Habitat construction crews in Charlotte County, volunteering about 24 hours each.

Outside of construction work, the group learned about the local area, met with Habitat homeowners and site supervisors, and attended a home dedication ceremony. This event helped connect their construction efforts to the families who benefit from them.

Carthage College reports record enrollment numbers. The college was founded in 1847 and is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, between Chicago and Milwaukee.
