City of McHenry Landmark Commission met December 2.

Here are the agenda provided by the commission:

1. Call to Order/Roll Call

      a. Present: Chairman Thomas Hillier, Kathryn Fray, Zelinda Paluch, Donna Storm, Kirk Donald (6:00PM)

      b. Absent: Laura Welter, Celeste Heidemann, Mark Healy

      c. Staff Present: Cody Sheriff, City Planner

      d. Members of the public: None

2. Public Comments

      There were no members of the public present.

3. Approve Previous Meeting Minutes: November 4, 2025

      Motion to approve by Commissioner Storm, seconded by Commissioner Paluch. Motion passed. (Voice  Vote – Aye: Chairman Thomas Hillier, Kathryn Fray, Zelinda Paluch, Donna Storm, Kirk Donald; Naysnone; Absent: Mark Healy, Laura Welter, Celeste Heidemann)

4. New Business

      a. Committee Updates

            i. Plaque

                City Planner Sheriff gave an update on the plaques that were received from Don’s Sign Shop and that he would coordinate with Mark Healy at the next meeting for getting in touch with the property owners.

            ii. Events

                Commissioner Storm gave an update on events committee that they were working on a list of events for the year. The Committee would continue to work on the list in the coming months.

            iii. Education

                Commissioner Fray stated there were no new updates. The committee is working on an internship program for a high school intern in the Spring.

            iv. Peterson Farm

                City Planner Sheriff stated there was no new updates and they are exploring grant opportunities.

            v. Social Media

                Commissioner Storm gave an update on their social media posts and that the public was very engaged. 

            vi. Operations

                There was no operations committee update.

      b. Document Review

            City Planner Sheriff gave a tour of the files that were removed from Peterson Farm. It was suggested the Commission schedule a time to come in the future. The Commission agreed.

5. Discussion Items

      a. Fox River Movie

            Chairman Hillier gave an update on the movie and the Commission was extremely pleased with the quality of the movie. It is now posted on Youtube and the City’s Landmark Commission web page.

       b. Open Discussion

            There was no Open Discussion.

6. Adjournment

      Motion to adjourn by Commissioner Storm, seconded by Commissioner Paluch. Adjourned at 6:20PM. Motion passed. (Voice Vote – Aye: Chairman Thomas Hillier, Kathryn Fray, Zelinda Paluch, Donna Storm, Kirk Donald; Nays- none; Absent: Mark Healy, Laura Welter, Celeste Heidemann)
