A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Marengo regarding unpaid parking violations on October 28, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at McHenry Times requested records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The specific information sought includes a list of all parking violations currently unpaid. This list should include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.

We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we requested a fee waiver for this information.

We are eagerly awaiting a response from the City of Marengo and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
