FOIA Request to City of Woodstock Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.

In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at McHenry Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Woodstock. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The request seeks records of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date. We have asked for specific fields including the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester’s name, address, and contractor name.

Additionally, we have requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. This also includes the same fields as mentioned above.

Access to public records is essential for us at McHenry Times to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
