FOIA Request to Village of Spring Grove regarding procurement bids and RFP submissions on February 1, 2026.

The McHenry Times has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Village of Spring Grove seeking access to records related to procurement bids and responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) received by the city during the immediately preceding calendar month. The request was sent on February 1, 2026, under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The records requested include details such as solicitation or project titles, names of bidders or proposers, submission dates, bid amounts or proposed costs, and descriptions of the goods or services proposed. The McHenry Times has emphasized that this request is aimed at gathering information of public interest for dissemination and does not require the creation of new documents. The media organization has also expressed its willingness to receive these records in electronic format if available.

In case any portion of this request is denied or withheld, the McHenry Times has asked for a specific statutory basis for such denial and requests that all reasonably segregable portions of the records be released. Additionally, given their role in disseminating information to the public, they have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA and Sunshine Laws.
