Ted Dabrowski, a candidate for governor of Illinois, said at a Lakewood meet-and-greet at RedTail Golf Club that he would prioritize restoring student literacy and numeracy and pursue a statewide universal school choice program if elected.

“Illinois public education is a broken system,” said Dabrowski, Gubernatorial Candidate. “We’re spending more than $24,000 per student – the most in the Midwest – all for dismal results. As governor, I will work to restore student literacy and numeracy in public education. fight for a statewide universal school choice program.”

The gathering took place on January 13, 2026, providing local residents an opportunity to engage with Dabrowski’s educational agenda in an intimate setting. RedTail Golf Club, located at 7900 RedTail Drive, is known for hosting community events alongside its regular golf operations.

According to Dabrowski, the proposal for “statewide universal school choice” involves directing education funding to follow students to their chosen learning environments—be it public, charter, private, or home-based options—rather than confining them to assigned schools. This approach is often described as enhancing parent-directed choices within K–12 education systems.

Dabrowski is running as a Republican candidate for Illinois governor. His background includes leadership roles in policy and advocacy organizations. He launched his campaign as an alternative to the current state government trajectory. His campaign appearances, such as the Lakewood meet-and-greet, are platforms where he outlines priorities including changes in K–12 education and broader governance reforms.
