Former Huntley High School standout Ryan Bakes helped lead his current team, the Illinois State Redbirds, to a 7-6 victory over the Western Illinois Leathernecks in an NCAA Division I baseball game held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.

Duffy Bass Field hosted the contest, marking the third meeting between the two teams this season. The Redbirds earned a identical 7-6 win in their earlier matchup on Friday, March 13.

Bakes contributed one hit in five at-bats, scored two runs, collected one RBI, drew two walks and stranded one runner.

The Redbirds are set for a rematch against Western Illinois Leathernecks at Duffy Bass Field on Sunday, March 15, with the game scheduled for 1 p.m.
