Juliann Jakosalem, a Mathematics student from Crystal Lake, Illinois, has joined the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk softball team for the 2026 season. The Warhawks, led by head coach Brenda Volk in her 28th year, are preparing for a season marked by both experience and new talent.
Coach Volk continues to build on her legacy as she enters the season as the seventh-winningest active coach in NCAA Division III. Last year, she achieved her 800th career win. Under her leadership, the Warhawks have been picked to finish second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) this spring and are ranked No. 11 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III preseason poll. In 2025, they won the WIAC regular season championship and advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals.
The team’s roster includes five returning All-WIAC selections and eleven newcomers. UW-Whitewater will begin its 2026 schedule with four games in St. Louis from March 7-8 before traveling to Clermont, Florida, for their annual spring break trip from March 15-21.
After returning to the Midwest, the Warhawks will play two road doubleheaders before hosting home games at van Steenderen Softball Complex. Carroll and Augustana are scheduled to visit Whitewater on April 3 and April 7. The team will then have a five-doubleheader homestand from April 15-26 before finishing the regular season with consecutive road doubleheaders.
