There was one gas station in cities across McHenry County selling diesel gas at the lowest price of $2.95 per gallon in the week ending Jan. 10, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The county registered an average of $3.48 per gallon for diesel gas.
Among 91 gas stations in cities within McHenry County, 39 offered diesel gas.
Across Illinois, the average reported price for a gallon of diesel gas fell to $3.58, compared to the week before.
U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
