Madeline Bedoe, a Marketing student from Cary, Illinois at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, has completed the Recognize, Respond, and Refer (RRR) course. She is among 328 students at the university who have finished this mental health training.

The RRR program is designed to strengthen the campus community and support suicide prevention efforts. The course provides students, faculty, and staff with skills to identify signs of emotional distress and respond appropriately. Participants are trained in empathy, active listening, and how to refer individuals to suitable campus or community resources.

Suicide remains a leading cause of death among college students. Many students struggling with mental health issues do not seek help on their own. The RRR program aims to empower peers, faculty, and staff to recognize early warning signs and respond effectively.

For more information about RRR training at UW-Whitewater, interested parties are encouraged to visit the university’s website.
