In 1980 Sauk Village had a population of 11,000 and over 3,000 homes. Today Sauk Village is a community stretching from Steger Road to Route 30 and from Burnham Avenue to Cottage Grove Avenue. In recent years Sauk Village has seen industrial expansion and has earned several awards. In 1984 Sauk Village was the recipient of the Governor’s Home Town Award and also became recognized as a Certified City, 1 out of 15 in the entire State of Illinois.
