Gubernatorial candidate Gary Rabine (R) is calling into question Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s relationship with indicted former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.

“JB was Madigan’s ATM,” Rabine said on Facebook. “No wonder he never called out Madigan on any of the scandals. Governor JB Pritzker was Madigan’s biggest investor!!!!”

The former House Speaker was indicted on 22 counts including racketeering, bribery and extortion. The 106-page indictment included the accusation that Madigan would help an alderman  get an appointment to a six-figure job to a state board through “the future Governor of the State of Illinois.” The alderman has been identified as Danny Solis.

Pritzker denied those allegations

“The governor does not recall Michael Madigan ever asking him to consider Danny Solis for any position,” a Pritzker spokesman said in a statement.

Madigan, who spent 36 years as House Speaker, the longest in the country’s history, said the allegations are not true. “I adamantly deny these accusations and look back proudly on my time as an elected official, serving the people of Illinois.”

Rabine runs a group of 11 companies based out of the Rabine Group headquarters in Woodstock. Rabine’s holdings are in pavement construction and maintenance, real estate technology, roofing maintenance and construction, snow removal, pipe televising and trucking.
