Richmond-Burton Community High School District 157 and Nippersink School District 2 announced on March 16 that all schools will be closed for the day due to a blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect for the area through tonight and into early afternoon, making travel hazardous.
The closure affects students, staff, and families across McHenry County, where Richmond-Burton High School is located, according to information from the Illinois Report Card.
Dr. Tom Lind said, “Nippersink School District 2 and Richmond-Burton Community High School District 157 schools will be closed on Monday, March 16, 2026. The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for are area tonight and into the early afternoon tomorrow making travel hazardous. Please be careful and stay safe.”
According to the Illinois State Board of Education, Richmond-Burton Community High School District 157 employs 43 teachers with an average salary of $65,602 before pension contributions; women make up just over half of the teaching staff at 54.3 percent while men account for 45.7 percent. There are no teachers in this district with more than ten absences in a school year.
Demographic data shows that Richmond-Burton Community High School District 157 is composed of approximately 85.9 percent White students, with Hispanic students representing nearly ten percent, Asian students at about two percent, and Black students at less than one percent as reported by the Illinois Report Card.
Financial records indicate that in 2020 the district spent $29,755 per student for a total expenditure of $18,180,232 according to state data. Chronic truancy rates remain below state averages: during the same year there were sixteen chronically truant students enrolled—about 2.6 percent—compared to a statewide average of nearly ten percent as reported by ISBE.
