Randy Hultgren (R-Dist. 14) and Dan Lipinski (D-Dist. 3) recently announced the formation of the Congressional Prize Caucus to encourage more private citizens to get involved in large-scale innovation. The caucus will work with legislators and federal agencies to promote public prize competitions as a means of generating big ideas on issues that would otherwise be addressed through typical channels such as grant funding and private research and development.

Hultgren-sponsored Protecting Affordable Coverage for Employees Act signed into law

President Obama signed a bill into law late last week, co-sponsored by U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Dist. 14), that adjusts certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act to favor mid-size businesses. The Protecting Affordable Coverage for Employees (PACE) Act keeps the threshold for “small group” companies to 50 employees or less, instead of forcing businesses with 51-100 employees into the small-group market in 2016.
