Richmond Finance Committee backs salt barn cover, street patching proposals

Richmond

The Richmond Village Board Finance Committee, comprising Trustees Craig Kunz, Ramsin Wardanian and Dennis Bardy, recently met and approved a proposal for a salt barn cover and a proposal to transfer funds for asphalt patching.

The committee also approved a request from Village Clerk Karla Thomas to send the finance clerk to special classes for Excel at McHenry County College. Thomas said she obtained a $400 scholarship for the training, which would cost $330.

Thomas also said it took her quite a few hours to produce the annual treasurer’s report. She said that providing a cost from Asyst would help make the process of completing the report quicker and more efficient. The board voted to approve to have the report developed.

The committee approved a proposal for a salt barn cover from Farmtek. The proposal will now go to the full board from approval.

The committee also reviewed a budget proposal for patching the streets. The price of patching asphalt has increased, Public Works Supervisor Bill Price said. Price also said that the patching needs to be completed before winter. The panel approved a request from Price to transfer $18,000 that was saved from the salt barn project to asphalt patching. The proposal now goes before the full board.
