Lake in the Hills issues drone rules reminder

Drone

The village of Lake in the Hills is reminding anyone flying a drone, unmanned aircraft system or model aircraft near the Lake in the Hills Airport that they need to follow the appropriate rules set forward by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Airport officials warned that flying a drone within 5 miles of the airport without first contacting the airport manager for permission could lead to local and federal investigations.

Full civilian drone operating guidelines can be found on the FAA's website.

The Lake in the Hills airport manager can be reached at 815- 479-7960.
