Illinois Student Assistance Commission wins information technology award

Awards

The CIO’s Most Effective Information Technology (IT) Team Award was presented Nov. 19 to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC).

The award, which is given each year to three Chicago area organizations, is awarded by the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) and the Society for Information Management (SIM).

“We congratulate ISAC for the innovation, value creation and hard work that made it such a worthy recipient of this award,” SIM-Chicago President Scot Berkey said.

This is the first time the award has been given to a government agency. The award is given to each of three categories for organizational size – large, medium and small. ISAC won the award in the small business category.

“We recognize that it’s not often that you see a government agency receiving kudos from other sectors for innovation, service and cost effectiveness,” ISAC Executive Director Eric Zarnikow said. “We couldn’t be more proud of the entire IT team.”

The awards were given at a dinner held by AITP and SIM.

“It’s particularly meaningful that organizations are nominated and judged for the award by their peers, and that ISAC competed with private and nonprofit organizations throughout Chicagoland for the honor," AITP Chicago President Gary Czubak said.
