The village of Huntley recently released the minutes of its Oct. 22 board meeting.
The board approved several motions, including the Culver’s Veteran’s Day Memorial.
Culver’s asked the village for approval to host a Veteran’s Memorial Day Event at Deicke Park. They asked to display about 100 flags, which would represent deceased soldiers. The display was to last from Oct. 31 to Nov. 12. The flags would be placed on a grassy area on Powers Road, which is along Culver’s property, on the private east road.
Trustee JR Westberg was curious as to how far back the flags would be in the intersection. His concern was the drivers’ line of site on the road. Richard Myers was present to answer questions, and he responded that he wasn’t sure of the distance, but would ensure the line of site would be clear.
After discussion, there was a motion that approved a resolution to issue a temporary permit for the American Flag Display. There was also approval for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Nov. 8 at Deicke Park.
Other approvals included the third payout for $204,878.66 to Elmund & Nelson, Company. The payout is for the Downtown Dry Utility Replacement Plan.
