A Property Tax Levy Ordinance and the awarding of bids for city services were discussed at the Woodstock City Council meeting Dec. 1.
The city of Woodstock will decline to increase taxes according to cost of living increases, which is covered under the Property Tax Extension Limit Law, according to an announcement from Mayor Brian Sager. This is the fifth year the city has chosen not to participate in the program.
The city is expanding taxes under one area, which will be under the area of new growth and new residents, as services must be expanded in these areas and the city must fork out money for these areas, so it makes sense to raise taxes.
This item is part of the 2015 Tax Levy Ordinance, which is in line with the Truth in Taxation Act, according to Sager.
Among awards given for bids for city services, the wastewater treatment sludge removal contract was given to Dahm Enterprises Inc., which will be applied in 2016 and 2017.
