Woodstock said work on the restoration of Ryder’s Woods is continuing.
The project includes establishing a new entrance and an adjacent trail that will connect the woods to Peace Park. This project also removed some waste concrete and unwanted vegetation. The city said that upon completion, the area will have new trees and other flora, a wildflower learning garden and an educational kiosk.
This project aims to improve the park’s safety and accessibility for citizens and to benefit the local wildlife, including local bird species.
Residents have a chance to meet with public works officials and conservationists at Thursday's meeting. Public Works Director Jeff Van Landuyt and McHenry County Land Conservancy Executive Director Lisa Haderlein will be at the meeting to detail the progress that has been made with the Ryder’s Woods restoration.
This restoration project is the result of a collaboration between the city and the county’s land conservancy division. The project has received funding support from the McHenry County Community Foundation.
